Bangladesh Military Museum

Bangladesh's main city, Dhaka, is home to the Bangladesh Military Museum, which is a museum. The Bangladesh Army has jurisdiction of the museum. The Bangladesh Military Museum is outfitted with a variety of weapons that showcase the history, customs, accomplishments, and actions of the military throughout the liberation war as well as the accomplishment of numerous missions around the globe. The first military museum opened in 1987 near the Mirpur cantonment's gate in Dhaka. Everything in the military museum

This museum houses the trophies, gear, uniforms, arms, ammo, cannons, anti-aircraft guns, and other vehicles used by army commanders to communicate during the liberation struggle of 1971. Additionally maintained here are many vehicles and weaponry that were retrieved from the Pakistani Army following the Liberation War. In the field in front of the museum, there are 26 distinct replicas of tanks and other armored vehicles.

Entering through the gate of the military museum, you will see the tank PT-76. This Russian-made tank is able to float on water. This tank was recovered from the Pakistan occupation forces by the Bangladesh Army from Brahmanbaria area during the 1971 War of Independence. A further 16 tanks and artillery are displayed on display along the north and east sides of the military museum grounds. They are simply kept in the open air. On the north-west side of the field you will see the motor launch 'ML Suryoday'. It is given as a grant by the Japanese government. There are 8 galleries on the second floor of the main museum building . In the first gallery, 

Weapons of the primitive era including handaxes, arrows, bows are displayed. In the second gallery are DBBL guns, SBBL guns, weapons including tools used by special people; The third gallery has medium weapons including LMGs, SMGs and In the fourth gallery heavy weapons including Mortars, Spawls, HMGs are on public display. The fifth gallery houses the winter and summer uniforms of the armed forces, ranks, badges, ribbons, etc. Surrender documents of Pakistani invaders in the Great War of Liberation, portraits of sector commanders, 

Aome practical objects etc. are displayed in the 6th gallery titled 'War of Liberation'. The seventh gallery is named 'Vijay Gallery'. It has been arranged to display the portraits and brief biographies of the soldiers of the armed forces who gave their lives in the great liberation war and the eighth gallery has oil paintings of all the former army chiefs, name list of soldiers and heroes etc.

The jeep used by General MAG Osmani, the Commander-in-Chief of the Bangladesh Armed Forces during the liberation war, is displayed on the ground floor of the museum building. The Mujib Corner has recently been set up in the west side room on the ground floor of the Military Museum. There are 30 photographs depicting independence movement, liberation war and memories of Bangabandhu. By visiting this museum one can learn a lot about the history, achievements and importance of our military.

Military Museum Schedule

The museum is open five days a week Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Open from 10.30 am to 6.30 pm during summer. Open from 10 am to 6 pm in winter. And the military museum is closed on Wednesdays.

Bangladesh military museum ticket price

The entrance fee at the Bangabandhu Military Museum in Dhaka, Bangladesh, is one hundred Bangladeshi takas (BDT). Both online and in-person ticket sales are available at the museum. Directions to the Military Museum

Come to Vijay Sarani by bus, CNG or taxi from different parts of Dhaka. Bhasani Novotheater is right next to Vijay Sarani Mor. And if you walk a few steps before the Novotheater, you will find the Bangladesh Military Museum.

Or take the bus and get down at Farmgate intersection, you can also walk or rickshaw from Farmgate intersection to reach the Bangladesh Military Museum.
